PLANNING YOUR TRIP

KILIMANJARO CLIMBING

About Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

The highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro is crowned with an everlasting snow-cap and is posited inside the Kilimanjaro National Park of Tanzania. Can you succeed in Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro? Yes you can! Every year, over 30,000 people just like you come to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest free-standing mountain and Africa’s highest peak.

Planning Climbing Kilimanjaro

You have to take these three major decisions while planning your climb to Kilimanjaro:

  1. You have to decide on a date:

The Best Time To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro is the driest months of the year, especially Jan/Feb and Aug/Sep. But any time between January and mid March or between June and October offers reasonable chances of good weather on Kilimanjaro.

  1. You have to decide on the climb route and length (how many days/nights):

There are several routes to Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. They vary in length and difficulty. All except one require you to camp. If you use the Marangu route your accommodation is in huts and camping is not allowed.

Five days is the absolute minimum duration for a Kilimanjaro trek, six is better. For the popular Machame route six days is the minimum, seven days is recommended.

  1. You have to decide on a trekking agency/climb operator.

Access is restricted and the steep Kilimanjaro park fees make a Kilimanjaro climb rather expensive. YourClimb Kilimanjaro Guidewill help you trek to the summit. A good climb operator will supply guides, a cook, porters, food, water, and camping equipment if you are camping. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Beginnersis easy with our special guides to assist them. Choose Your Kilimanjaro Routes

There are seven main Kilimanjaro Climbing Routes. Each one varies in terms of difficulty, traffic, and scenic beauty; and choosing the right one for you is a key part of the planning process.

  1. Marangu

Marangu Route which is the classic Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing Routes is also known as the Coca-Cola route. Traditionally considered the easiest of routes, Marangu provides a gradual slope and communal sleeping huts located at strategic locations along the way.

  1. Machame

Machame Route which is also known as the Whiskey route has replaced Kili’s oldest route as the most popular choice for adventurous climbers.

  1. Lemosho

Lemosho Route that is one of the mountain’s newer routes comes highly recommended by trusted operators like Thomson and Ultimate Kilimanjaro.

  1. Rongai

The only route to approach Kilimanjaro from the north is Rongai Route which is near the Kenyan border.

  1. Shira

The Shira Route approaches the mountain from the west and is nearly identical to the Lemosho route.

  1. Umbwe

Umbwe Route being the most challenging of the Kili routes is only recommended for experienced climbers who are confident in their ability to acclimatize quickly.

The Lemosho Route has the highest Kilimanjaro Climb Success Rate compared to other routes. So choose any of the above Kilimanjaro Routes as per your suitability. We are always there to assist you 24/7 hours.

Kilimanjaro Climb Cost – Budgeting For Kilimanjaro
