Arusha National Park Overview

Arusha National Park which is the home to the fourth highest mountain in Africa – Mount Meru (4,566 m) is often described as the green jewel of Africa. Anyone visiting this park will be thrilled by the overwhelming landscapes.

Arusha National Park Location

Arusha National Park Location is well placed in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania which lies on the Kenyan border, encompassing savannahs and part of the Great Rift Valley. The park ranges from the Meru Crater in the west, the Ngurdoto Crater in the southeast to the grasslands, and of course the alkaline Momella lakes in the northeast.

How To Get There At Arusha National Park

This magnificent National Park is only a 45-minute drive away from the town of Arusha, the starting point of any safari in northern Tanzania.The easiest way to get to Arusha is to get a direct flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is situated about 46km from Arusha.
 
Otherwise, travelers can fly in to Julius Nyerere International Airport, near Dar es Salaam and get a connecting domestic flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport.

Arusha National Park Day Trip

Arusha National Park Wildlife

The Arusha National Park Wildlife hosts some of the Big Five among which buffalo is mostly seen whereas lion and rhino are absent. The charismatic black-and-white colobus monkey is the flagship species.

The Arusha forests are home to species that are not often encountered in other parks in northern Tanzania, including black-and-white colobus and blue monkey. You can also spot a shy red duiker if you are lucky. Giraffes are very common in the area around the Momella lakes. Best time for visiting the Arusha National Park is throughout the year, but the Dry season from June to October is the best time for viewing the Arusha National Park Animals.
