DAY 1
Moshi/Arusha to Momella Gate – Trek to Miriakamba Huts
After breakfast, depart Moshi or Arusha around 8:30 AM and drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. After park formalities, begin your trek through lush montane forest, spotting wildlife like zebras, giraffes, and colobus monkeys. This is one of the few treks where you may begin with a guided walking safari.
Elevation gain: 1597m (5240 ft) → 2503m (8212 ft)
Distance: 13.8 km | Trekking time: 4–5 hours

DAY 2
Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts – Explore the Rainforest to Alpine Zones
Today’s hike is steeper, passing through lush rainforest and heather zones. Arrive at Saddle Huts, nestled below Little Meru. In the afternoon, you have the option to hike to Little Meru (3820 m) for additional acclimatization and panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

DAY 3
Summit Mount Meru – Descend Back to Saddle Huts
Start your summit attempt around midnight with a light breakfast. Climb via Rhino Point and Cobra Point, reaching Mount Meru’s summit (Socialist Peak) just after sunrise. Marvel at 360° views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Meru Crater, and the East African plains.
After summit photos, descend to Saddle Huts for a hot meal and well-earned rest.
Elevation gain: 3560m (11,680 ft) → 4566m (14,980 ft)
Elevation loss: back to 3560m
Distance: 5.5 km up and down | Trekking time: 6–8 hours

DAY 4
Descend to Momella Gate – Transfer to Arusha/Moshi
After breakfast, descend through Arusha National Park’s rainforest, passing Miriakamba Huts en route to Momella Gate. Upon arrival, receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha.
