Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climb – 5-Day Trek + Arrival & Departure
Climb Africa’s highest peak via the Marangu Route, the most popular and beginner-friendly trail on Mount Kilimanjaro. Also called the “Coca-Cola Route” for its hut accommodations and soft drink access, this 5-day trek offers a scenic journey through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert, culminating at Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
This 7-day itinerary includes arrival and departure days, and is perfect for first-time climbers, those looking for comfort (with huts instead of tents), and trekkers wanting a manageable ascent without technical climbing.
Why Choose the Marangu Route?
Known as Kilimanjaro’s easiest trail with comfortable hut accommodations
Great for first-timers and acclimatization-sensitive climbers
Scenic variety—from tropical forests to volcanic deserts
Optional Zanzibar or safari extension after the trek
Only route where you sleep in permanent huts, not tents
Is the Marangu Route good for beginners?
Yes. The Marangu Route is considered the easiest and most comfortable trail on Kilimanjaro, with hut accommodations instead of tents, making it ideal for first-timers.
Can the trek be extended to 6 days?
Absolutely. Many climbers choose the 6-day Marangu Route to include an acclimatization day at Horombo Hut, which improves summit success rates.
When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?
The best months are January to March and June to October, during Tanzania’s dry seasons, offering clearer skies and safer trail conditions.
What’s included in this Kilimanjaro trek package?
The trek includes all park fees, accommodation, meals, certified guides and porters, transfers, and summit certificate. Add-ons like gear rental or extra hotel nights can be arranged.
Can I combine this trek with a safari or Zanzibar trip?
Yes! You can add a 5-day Northern Circuit safari or a beach escape to Zanzibar for a full Tanzania experience. Custom packages available upon request.
