Kilimanjaro International Airport → Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be met by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Relax and prepare for your climb. Your lead guide will conduct a trek briefing, gear check, and help arrange any needed equipment rentals.

DAY 1
Marangu Gate (1,860 m) → Mandara Huts (2,723 m)
Distance: 8.3 km / 5.2 miles
Time: 4–5 hours
Altitude Gain: 818 m
Start your Kilimanjaro hike at Marangu Gate after a 45-minute transfer from Moshi. Trek through lush montane rainforest, spotting colobus monkeys and exotic birds, before arriving at Mandara Huts for dinner and overnight stay. Optional: short walk to Maundi Crater.

DAY 2
Mandara Huts → Horombo Huts (3,721 m)
Distance: 12.5 km / 7.8 miles
Time: 6–8 hours
Altitude Gain: 998 m
Exit the rainforest and climb through open moorland, with views of giant groundsels and lobelias. You’ll stop for lunch with views of Mawenzi Peak, then reach Horombo Hut, your base for the next two nights.

DAY 3
Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Use today for rest or an optional acclimatization hike to Mawenzi Ridge (4,300 m). This extra day is essential for adjusting to altitude and increases your chance of reaching the summit. Return to Horombo overnight.

DAY 4
Horombo Huts → Kibo Hut (4,714 m)
Distance: 10.5 km / 6.5 miles
Time: 6–8 hours
Altitude Gain: 993 m
Pass through the alpine desert zone as you cross the Saddle, a wide, windswept plain between Mawenzi and Kibo. After lunch, reach Kibo Hut for early dinner and sleep before your midnight summit push.

DAY 5
Summit Day – Kibo Hut → Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) → Horombo Hut
Ascent Distance: 6.25 km | 5–7 hours
Descent Distance: 15.75 km | 5–6 hours
Total Altitude Gain: 1,181 m | Loss: 2,174 m
Begin your summit attempt between midnight and 2 AM, ascending steep scree to Gilman’s Point. Continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After photos and celebrations, descend to Kibo for lunch, then continue to Horombo Hut for the final night.

DAY 6
Horombo Huts → Marangu Gate → Moshi
Distance: 20 km / 12.5 miles
Time: 6–7 hours
Altitude Loss: 1,816 m
After a celebratory breakfast, descend past Mandara Huts to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Your driver will return you to Moshi, where a hot shower and celebration dinner await.
