8 Days Lemosho Route. This 8 days lemosho route Kilimanjaro Climbing On your arrival day before the beginning of your Kilimanjaro experience, your guide will do a briefing and a gear check on your arrival day These essential steps will ensure security for all and significantly increase your chance of success. Day 1: Arusha or Moshi - Londorossi Gete (2250m) - Big Tree Camp (2780m)

After breakfast you will make your way to the Londorossi gate which is about a 2 hour drive from Sal Salinero. After finalising all the registration papers you will continue another 15km on a bumpy road which will take you to the start of this trek deep in the rainforest.

Today will be a shortest walk of the entire trek, about 2½ hours, which gives you a small taste of what lies ahead in the coming days. The walk takes you through dense and unspoiled rainforest, which is very different from the scenery you will have in the next couple of days. Your destination for the day is the beautiful Big Tree Camp at 2780m

Day 2: Big Tree Camp (2780m) - Shira Camp 1 (3500m)

After breakfast you will follow a thin trail through the rainforest before leaving the green area behind heading into moorland. Erica and Lobelia plants will start to take over the landscape. After about 3-4 hours you will reach Shira Camp 1 where you will have your evening meal and overnight stay.

Day 3: Shira Camp 1 (3599m) - Shira Camp 2 (3900)

After breakfast you continue your trek, which today will be less tiring than the day before. You will cross Shira Ridge which will allows for great views of the Rift Valley and Mt Meru.

The ever changing landscape will again surprise you with a different terrain, you will walk on ground where lava once flowed. You will also pass the big Senecien that can grow to more or less 9 meters in height. Shira Camp 2 will be your destination for the night at (3900m), 400m more than night before.

Day 4: Shira Camp 2 (3900m) - Lava Tower (4640m) Barranco Camp (3960m)

After breakfast you will start your walk up to Lava Tower with a long ascent above the Shira Plateau. You will climb quite a bit in altitude, roughly 740m. You will have a rest here before descending again. This is a so called acclimatising day, where you will climb high but sleep low, giving you a good idea of how your body reacts to altitude.

The landscape will once again change as you pass through the Barranco Valley with its big Senecias and smaller Lobelia plants. After a long 6 – 7 hours you will reach your beautiful camp for the night the Barranco Camp. The crew will be there waiting with a well deserve evening meal before settling in for the night.

Day 5: Barronco Camp (3960) - Karanga Camp (4035m)

Straight after breakfast you will make your way up the famous Barranco Wall. This is most probably the steepest part of the entire route. Safety is very important to us so please follow the guideline of your guides who will get you to the top safely.

You might have to use yours hands every now and then to get a better grip but rest assured there are no alpine climbing passages. Once at the top you will walk along the mountain ridge and if the weather allows you will have a great view of the southern glacier of Kibo as the Kibo summit. After 3 – 4 hours you will reach Karanga Camp for your overnight.

Day 6: Karanga Camp (4035m) - Barafu Camp (4640m)

Barafu Camp is your destination for today at (15,220 ft) 4640m. You will start after breakfast and should reach it in about 3 to 4 hours. The scenery for today will be mostly afro-alpine dessert. Once at the camp you will have a filling early dinner before settling in for a good rest in preparation for tomorrow exciting climb.

Day 7: Barafu Camp (4640m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Mweka Camp (3080m)

Your day will begin at 00:00. After hot tea and biscuits you will start your 5-7 hours walk to Stella Point, the crater rim of Kilimanjaro. Here you will have a short rest if necessary before continuing another 1-2 hours to reach the highlight of the trip the Uhuru Peak (5895m).

This is truly a once in a lifetime experience as you stand at the top of Africa watching the sunrise light up the surrounding summits and landscape. After taking much needed pictures you will make your way down back to Barafu Camp for a 1-2 hours rest.

Once everyone is well rested you will continue down to Mweka gate (3080m), an approx. 3 hours walk. The rest of the evening is yours to relax, you’ll have a nice evening meal and a good night’s sleep.

Day 8: Mweka Camp (3080m) - Mweka Gate (1630m) - Moshi

After breakfast, before starting your final stretch, you will enjoy a traditional farewell ceremony from the mountain guides. A 2 – 3 hours walk will take you through the rainforest back the Mweka Gate.

Our driver will be there waiting for you and take you back to the Sal Salinero Hotel. The rest of the day is yours to freshen up, relax, and take in all the excitement of the last couple of days.

Day 1 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

In the morning you will be welcomed by your guide and after an approximately 2-hour drive, you will reach Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park, your guide will open the roof for a better viewing experience.

Tarangire is home to the largest elephant herds in the north of Tanzania. Giraffes, buffaloes, lions, zebras, wildebeests as well as various antelopes and gazelles can also be spotted here. The landscape is made up of seasonal marshes and a seemingly endless tree savannah with its mighty baobab trees. After extensive game drives in the park, you will reach the Nimali Tarangire Camp in the afternoon. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and relax in the cozy lounge area or mingle around the crackling campfire.

Lunch; Dinner

Day 2 Tarangire National Park – Karatu

After a hearty breakfast, you will head out on another game drive in the Tarangire National Park. During the dry season between June and October, the Tarangire River is the only permanent source of water and the wildlife tends to concentrate in its vicinity.

You will stop at one of the picnic spots for lunch. In the afternoon, you leave this beautiful park behind. Passing through the multi-cultural town of Mto wa Mbu, the higher lands are soon reached and wonderful views of the Masai Plains and Lake Manyara open up before you. After the obligatory photo stop, you will make your way to the vegetation-rich crater highlands. Today’s destination is Kitela Lodge which lies in the middle of a coffee plantation and is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Day 3 Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

Today you will drive into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and down into the Ngorongoro Crater. Grass steppes and acacia forests are home to almost all the species of animals found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours, you have the chance of spotting the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard).

, After extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, you will leave the highlands of Ngorongoro in the afternoon and continue to the Serengeti. You will soon see the seemingly endless plains of the southern Serengeti and finally reach the Seronera Valley in central Serengeti. The stunning Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge will be your home for the next three nights.

Day 4-5 Serengeti National Park

These two days are dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. Your guide will take you to the best spots to observe the wildlife. Elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, topi, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles and many more can be seen in this large national park. 

Especially in the Seronera Valley, you will be able to experience fantastic game viewing all year round. The Serengeti, together with the Masai Mara in Kenya, is also home to the largest animal migration on the planet. You will stay at the Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge.

Day 6

If time allows, you will head out on a last-game drive in the early morning. After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, your guide will take you to the airstrip. Here you will say goodbye and board a small aircraft which will take you back to Arusha. Connecting flights to Tanzania’s coast or islands can be arranged by us at a surcharge.
