This 7-day western Tanzania safari offers a rare chance to explore Gombe Stream and Mahale Mountains National Parks, two of the best places in Africa for chimpanzee tracking in the wild. Along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, encounter primates, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and visit the historic town of Ujiji.
The dry season (June to October) offers easier hiking and better visibility. However, chimps can be tracked year-round with good sightings also possible in the green season (Nov–Feb).
Moderate. Treks can last 2–5 hours and involve uneven forest terrain. A reasonable fitness level is recommended, especially in Mahale which has steeper trails.
While not 100% guaranteed, both parks have highly habituated chimp populations, and sightings are very frequent—especially with experienced guides.
Yes! Mahale Mountains National Park is known for its safe, crystal-clear shores, ideal for snorkeling, swimming, and kayaking.
