DAY 1
Moshi/Arusha → Machame Gate → Machame Camp
Start Elevation: 1,790 m → Camp Elevation: 3,010 m
Distance: ~10 km | Trek Time: 5–6 hrs
After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate and begin your trek through dense rainforest. Keep an eye out for colobus monkeys, ferns, and moss-covered trees as you ascend to Machame Camp.

DAY 2
Machame Camp → Shira Camp
Elevation: 3,010 m → 3,845 m
Distance: ~5 km | Trek Time: 4–5 hrs
Hike through heather and moorland zones with spectacular views of Kibo Peak. Reach Shira Camp on the plateau by mid-afternoon, just in time to watch the sunset light up the glaciers.

DAY 3
Shira Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp

A crucial day for acclimatization, you ascend to Lava Tower (4,640 m) before descending to Barranco Camp. Enjoy views of giant senecios, alpine desert, and rugged cliffs.

DAY 4
Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
Elevation: 3,960 m → 4,035 m

Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a non-technical but adventurous ascent. Traverse scenic ridges and descend into the Karanga Valley. Kibo’s glaciers tower to your left throughout.

DAY 5
Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp (Summit Base)
Elevation: 4,035 m → 4,640 m

Cross the alpine desert to reach Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit. Eat early and rest—your summit push begins tonight.

Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp

Descent to: 3,080 m

Start your midnight summit attempt, reaching Stella Point at sunrise and Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. After celebrating, descend to Mweka Camp via Barafu.

Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi

Trek through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificate. Your vehicle will take you back to Moshi for a hot shower and celebration!
