Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Climb – Scenic, Less Crowded, High Success Rate
The Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and less-traveled trails to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its low traffic, rich scenery, and excellent acclimatization profile, this route starts on the western side of the mountain and merges with the Machame Route on Day 3. It is ideal for those looking for a remote wilderness trek with a high summit success rate
Why Choose the Lemosho Route?
High summit success rate due to gradual elevation gain
Begins in the lush rainforest and passes through alpine desert and glacier zones
Less crowded than Machame or Marangu
Overnight in tents with full porter support
Ideal for those wanting a longer, more scenic approach to Uhuru Peak
Is the Lemosho Route better than Machame?
Yes, if you’re looking for fewer crowds, more scenic variation, and a gradual ascent that improves your summit chances.
What is the summit success rate for the Lemosho Route?
The 7-day Lemosho itinerary has one of the highest success rates—typically 90%+, thanks to its slow ascent and built-in acclimatization.
What fitness level is required?
You should be in good physical condition, able to walk 6–8 hours per day on uneven terrain. No mountaineering experience is required.
What’s included in this Lemosho trek package?
Transfers, guides, porters, park fees, meals, tents, hotel accommodations, and summit certificates are included. Gear rentals available.
Can I combine this trek with a safari or beach holiday?
Absolutely. Popular add-ons include a 5-day Northern Tanzania safari or a Zanzibar island escape.
