Tour Overview

From the mountains, to the plains, and onto the Lakes, Selous is, perhaps, the ultimate all in one safari destination. On foot, by boat, and, of course, in the 4×4, we are offering you the best of this magnificent game reserve from two beautiful, but very different camps.

The Selous Game Reserve is one of the largest faunal reserves of the world, located in the south of Tanzania. Dry Season: June to mid November. This is the best time for game viewing along the rivers and lakes. Elephants come out of the bush at that time and predators are more commonly seen. December to February is good for game viewing but can be rather hot and humid.

Day 1: Train to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere)

Depart TAZARA station, Dar es Salaam for Kisaki, Selous.Trains depart Tuesday 13.50 and Friday 1550, and the journey takes about 4 hours passing through rural villages and Selous Game Reserve. Overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge.

Sable Mountain Lodge is set in the Beho Beho hills, with wonderful views to the Uluguru Mountains. Leaving the lodge, miombo woodland spread across the hills soon gives way to the plains and termite citadels of Northern Selous which fill with game in the green season. Dinner included.

Day 2: Full day game drive in North Selous

After breakfast, a full day drive into game rich areas within Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve). Overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included

Day 3: Full day game drive in South Selous

Another full day drive across the entire reserve, fascinating changes in terrene vegetation and wonderful game viewing and overnight at Nyerere Tented Camp. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.

Day 4: Walking safari and boat safari on Rufiji River

Explore the Selous Game Reserve by walking safari and after lunch; you will go for a boat ride in the Rufiji River. Crocodiles, hippos and hippos can be seen here as well as other animals as they converge to quench their thirst.

Crocodiles take advantage to hunt their prey and you might be treated to sights of animal action if lucky. Overnight at Nyerere Tented Camp. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner included.

Day 5. Drive to Dar Es Saalaam

After breakfast, morning relax and later transfer to Dar Es Salaam for your onward journey.
