Tanzania is an incredible safari destination. Whether it is your first time on safari or you are a seasoned safari traveler. The country is home to numerous national parks and game reserves that are bursting full of scenic landscapes, world heritage sites and, of course, an abundance of wildlife. There is so much to see that it can prove difficult to choose where to go. Tanzania’s safari circuit is split into two; the Northern Circuit and the Southern Circuit.
Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro
Pick clients from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to Arusha for bed and breakfast – Outpost Lodge
Day 2: Arusha Town/Lake Manyara National Park
Leave Arusha at 09.00 am, drive for about 2 hours to Lake Manyara National Park , famous for its green scenery, varied bird life, tree-climbing lions, hippos and baboons. Dinner and overnight will take place on top of the Great Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Manyara – Karatu Tented Lodge – all meals included.
Day 3: Lake Manyara/Serengeti National Park
Early morning after breakfast game viewing drive en route to Serengeti National Park. Serengeti is the largest and most famous park in Tanzania, known worldwide for its endless plains, wildebeest-migration, herds of lions and other predators like hyenas, cheetahs and leopards. Crocodiles can be found in the Grumeti River, as well as hippos, giraffes, antelopes, and gazelles. Dinner and overnight will be in the heart of Serengeti – Tukaone Serengeti Camp
Day 4: Serengeti National Park full dayamp
A full day game drive. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. Your Driver/Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals. Dinner and overnight will be at Tukaone Serengeti Camp
Day 5: Serengeti /Ngorongoro Crater Rim
After breakfast morning game drive in Serengeti National Park with picnic lunch Later depart for Ngorongoro Crater Rim via pre historic site at Olduvai Gorge, he site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries. Their findings include some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains. Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater/Tarangire National Park
A full day in the Ngorongoro Crater. There is a very high possibility of spotting the big 5 in one day: lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Lunch will take place at the picnic site at the crater floor. In the afternoon drive to Tarangire National Park for dinner and overnight Baobab Tented Camp
Day 7: Tarangire National Park/Babati Town
Morning after breakfast, game viewing in Tarangire National Park. This park is often referred to as the “home of elephants”, you have a great chance to spot elephants in large groups gathering around the Tarangire River. Other animals to be spotted include leopards, lions, giraffes and even tree-climbing pythons! Games drive until late afternoon and depart to Babati Town. In the evening walk to Lake Babati to see large bodies floating on the Lake, Hippos, fishing are the main activities in Lake Babati. Dinner and overnight will be at the Hotel.
Day 8: Babati Town/Dodoma City
Morning after breakfast, drive to the capital city of Tanzania, Dodoma via Kolo Irangi Rock Paintings. Half way between Arusha and Dodoma near the village of Kolo, is some of the finest examples of rock paintings in the world! These extraordinary paintings depict the animals and customs of the people at the time. Dinner and overnight Royal Village Hotel
Day 9: Dodoma City/Iringa Town/Ruaha National Park
Morning after breakfast, drive to Iringa Town via Mtera Dam. Iringa is a charming, if somewhat down-at-heel town, which lies at the heart of Tanzania’s tea industry. During market days bring forth an eclectic mix of expatriate wives dressed in pastel frocks shopping with their baskets and mingling with raw tribes people from the bush for their monthly trading spree. Then proceed to Ruaha National Park which is known to be one of the more natural, unspoilt as well as one of the largest Parks of Africa? Dinner and overnight Ruaha Hilltop Lodge
Day 10: Ruaha National Park
After breakfast walking safari accompanied by an experienced guide, here you will have the opportunity to ‘touch the wild’. Lunch will be at the lodge or campsite. In the afternoon game viewing drive the park. The exciting Great Ruaha River features large numbers of hippo and crocodile and attracts lion, leopard, hunting dog and other species such as waterbuck, impala, giraffe, warthog, eland, zebra and elephants. Grant’s gazelle, ostrich and cheetah may be seen on the plains. Dinner and overnight Ruaha Hilltop Lodge
Day 11: Ruaha National Park
After breakfast full day game viewing drive in the park. A fine network of game-viewing roads follows the Great Ruaha and its seasonal tributaries, where, during the dry season, impala, zebra, waterbuck and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life-sustaining water. And the risk is considerable: not only from the prides of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. This impressive array of large predators is boosted by both striped and spotted hyena, as well as several conspicuous packs of the highly endangered African wild dog. Dinner and overnight Ruaha Hilltop Lodge
Day 12: Ruaha National Park/Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Morning after breakfast depart to Udzungwa Mountains National Park via Isimila Stone Age Site an important archaeological site situated at about 20 kilometers from the town of Iringa, along the road to Mbeya, on a large plateau dominated by charming granite rock relieves. The site preserves important evidences of our ancestors’ activities dating back to over 60,000 ago, groups of nomadic hunters-collectors who used to go to the shores of an ancient and small lake which no longer exists. Dinner and overnight Udzungwa Forest Camp
Day 13: Wonderful Walking in Udzungwa Park
Morning after breakfast start walking in this beautiful Park enjoying and experience the stunning natural beauty of the park. Picnic lunch in the bush then proceed exploring the area wonderful Sanje waterfall endemic Red Colobus Monkey and beautiful scenery. Dinner and overnight Udzungwa Forest Camp
Day 14: Udzungwa/Mikumi National Park
Early morning after breakfast transfer for about 1-hour to Mikumi National Park for full day game viewing drive in the park, animals commonly found Include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and elephants. Wild dog can be seen in packs here. Lunch will take place at Kikoboga Camp. The Mikumi flood plain is the main feature of the Park along with the bordering mountain ranges. Dinner and overnight Camp Bastian Mikumi
Day 15: Mikumi National Park Full day
Morning after breakfast with packed lunch a full day game viewing drive in the park. Animals commonly found Include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and elephants. Wild dog can be seen in packs here. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centrepiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Dinner and overnight Camp Bastian Mikumi
Day 16: Mikumi/Selous Game Reserve
Morning after breakfast game drive en route to Selous Game Reserve, the journey is the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you up into the Uluguru Mountains across rivers and past small local villages and farms. The drive is tiring but possibly the most rewarding and adventurous on the southern circuit. Dinner and overnight Nyerere Tented Camp
Day 17: Selous Game Reserve
Morning after breakfast, full day game drive in the biggest and fascinating game reserve of Africa, the Rufiji River features a large numbers of hippo and crocodile and attracts lion, leopard, hunting dog, and numerous other species such as waterbuck, impala, warthog, eland, giraffe, zebra and elephant. Dinner and overnight Nyerere Tented Camp
Day 18: Walking & Boat Excursion in Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast launch a walking trip in the wilderness accompanied by an armed ranger guide to get close to the animals. You will have picnic lunch in the bush and there after lunch transfer to Rufiji for afternoon boat excursion on the Rufiji River sporting large floating bodies fog Hippos and or Crocs. Evening as the Sun goes down the drive will take you back to your accommodation for dinner experience and overnight FB.
Day 19: Selous/Dar es Salaam
After breakfast back to Dar with picnic lunch, via Kibiti road, the journey will take about 5 hours and will bring you through one of the most amazing areas of Tanzania , arrive Dar late afternoon and drop of at the airport or hotel.
